According to the data investigation, the formation damage caused by the secondary precipitation of iron ions in oil-gas well water injection as well as acidizing operation is still a potential problem. All the iron ions formed by the acid its carrying, the wall rust corroded by the acid and iron-bearing minerals in the formation could produce iron hydroxide precipitation on account of the increasing of pH. Once the precipitation is formed, it may be possible to block the formation porosity and oil gas flow passage as a result to reduce the effect of acidification treatment and oil gas production. Hence, how to control the stability of the iron ion is an important issue in oilfield acidizing treatment.

Iron ion stabilizer ( Iron Control Agent )  is a kind of very important additives. During the construction of oil and gas acidification, the high concentration of acid solution will dissolve iron on the surface of the oil and gas pipe material and other equipments. Although corrosion inhibitor is added, the corrosion of tube wall and the dissolution of iron objects scale still cannot avoid completely. Acid could also react with iron bearing minerals in the formation and clay mineral (such as siderite, hematite, chlorite etc.), making the solution included Fe3+ and Fe2+.

Dissolved iron is kept in acid solution by ionic state, until the acid exhausted. When the residual acid pH value rise and reaches a certain value, the iron hydroxide precipitation forming. This will seriously blocked the new pore which opened by acidizing treatment.
